PRESENTATION OVERVIEW:

The increase in intellectual property (IP) infringements has been having a huge impact on the outdoor industry. Modern communication methods are adding to the increasing import of counterfeits from the Far East to Europe by private people, retailers and criminal organizations. Anne Laurent from Amer Sports, representing the IP Committee of FESI, will brief us on the latest developments and on what brands can do to minimise the issues, she will also review the initiatives that a number of associations are taking that could help the outdoor industry tackle this major problem.

 

RESUME:

Anne LAURENT is an experienced Intellectual Property Specialist, having  worked in this field since 1983. She first worked in private practice as a patent attorney, and later joined Salomon, where she has held various positions from patent attorney up to legal and IP Director. She is presently General IP Counsel, Europe for Amer Sports serving brands such as Atomic, Salomon, Mavic, Wilson , Arc’Teryx. As a Patent and trademark attorney at French and European level, Anne LAURENT is active in a number of organizations of IP specialists where she has held either a vice president or president positions, including AIPPI (International Association for the protection of IP), GRAPI (Rhone Alp group of AIPPI, which Anne LAURENT has chaired several times), LES (Licensing Executives Society). Anne Laurent is also currently vice chair of the IP Committee of FESI (Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry),


Anne LAURENT is also presently vice chair president of the IP Committee of FESI (European Federation of Sport Industry), which is actively  lobbying  the EU commission and is fighting various forms of infringement of IP rights, including counterfeits. Anne has also a long experience regarding fighting copies and various infringements of IP rights in the sport industry. In her spare times, Anne likes swimming (especially in the Annecy lake), bicycling, skiing, running, trekking.
